KAVACH · Hyderabad, India Part one of two — catalogue continues below

The one thing in the room nobody let you choose.

You chose the stone, the lights and the switch plates. Then a red cylinder arrived and undid a corner of the room. KAVACH HALO is a fire extinguisher behind a slim shield, made to stay on your wall in the open, where it can be reached in time.

Why this exists

Fire safety has looked the same since 1965.

Not because the engineering demanded it, but because nobody who cared how a room looks was ever asked.

The red cylinder

  • Stands on the floor or juts off a bracket into the walkway
  • Gets hidden in a cupboard, then can't be found in a fire
  • Pin, seal and trigger exposed for children to fiddle with
  • Leaves you face to face with the heat
  • Needs two hands

KAVACH HALO

  • Only 91 mm deep, sits close to the wall
  • Looks good enough to stay in the open, where you can reach it
  • Pin, seal, valve and hose concealed behind the shield
  • The shield protects you from radiant heat and falling debris while you fight the fire
  • Operated with one hand

What KAVACH HALO will not do.

  • It won't replace your building's fire provision on its own.Use it alongside what NBC 2016 Part 4 requires for your building, and confirm quantities with your fire consultant.
  • It won't work on every fire.Rated for solids, flammable liquids, gases and live electrical equipment up to 1,000 V from at least 1 m away. Cooking-oil and deep-fat fires need a wet chemical extinguisher.
  • It won't help if it's hidden.HALO is designed to stay in the open. Behind a door, it's just an expensive cylinder.
  • It isn't zero maintenance.Check it monthly: in place, seal intact, gauge needle in the green. It needs a service check every year and a pressure test every 5 years.
  • The shield doesn't put the fire out.Textile (EX) shields are self-extinguishing, and the shield protects you from heat. The extinguisher behind it does the work.
  • It isn't a stock item.HALO is sold on pre-order only. We confirm your delivery date with your final price.

In any fire, people first. Get everyone out before you reach for anything.

In use

The shield is the only new part.

Behind it is a standard ABC powder extinguisher that works the way extinguishers always have.

1

Lift it off the wall

HALO sits on a wall bracket and lifts straight off. There's no strap to undo and no cupboard to open.

2

Hold it like a shield

Grip it from behind. The shield sits between you and the flames, guarding you from heat and debris.

3

Aim at the base and sweep

Release with one hand, aim at the base of the fire and sweep side to side. Anyone shown an extinguisher once can use it.

Try it yourself

Put the fire out.

Lift HALO off the wall, hold it up like a shield and aim at the base of each flame. Fifteen fires. Put them all out before the room catches fire.

Fires out 0/15
0.0s

Aim at the base. Don't let the room catch fire.

Just for fun. In a real fire, get everyone out first, and only tackle a small fire with your way out behind you.
